Clesana X1 vs X1 ProCharge: which should I choose?

Clesana X1 vs X1 ProCharge: which should I choose?

The Clesana X1 and X1 ProCharge use the same portable, waterless sealing-toilet concept. The key difference is how an optional battery is charged. Your best choice depends on where you will use the toilet and how you prefer to manage power.

The short answer

  • Choose the X1 if you are happy to power it from the supplied mains adaptor or 12 V connector, or charge a compatible battery separately.
  • Choose the X1 ProCharge if you want the convenience of charging a compatible battery while it is fitted in the toilet.

At-a-glance comparison

Feature X1 X1 ProCharge
Waterless sealing system Yes Yes
Portable design Yes Yes
230 V mains adaptor supplied Yes Yes
12 V connector supplied Yes Yes
Optional Einhell Power X-Change battery operation Yes Yes
Integrated battery charger No Yes
Battery included No No

What ProCharge adds

The X1 ProCharge has an integrated charger for a compatible Einhell battery. According to Clesana, the battery can be charged through the toilet's 12 V, 24 V or 230 V power connection instead of being removed and placed in a separate Einhell charger.

The standard X1 can still operate from a compatible battery, but that battery needs to be charged separately. If you already own the correct battery system and charger, or expect to use wired power most of the time, the standard model may be all you need.

Power and battery points to know

  • The Einhell battery is sold separately for both models.
  • Clesana recommends a 4 Ah battery and says this can seal around 40 bags per charge; actual results depend on conditions and use.
  • The interface is designed for 18 V batteries in the Einhell Power X-Change family.
  • Clesana says other 18 V battery systems used with adapters have not been tested.

What both models share

Both versions automatically seal waste in Clesana high-barrier liner, require no flush water or sanitary chemicals and are designed to be portable. The manufacturer lists the X1 footprint as 344 mm wide by 384 mm long, with a closed height of 302 mm and extended height of 416 mm.

Both packages are listed with a 230 V power supply, 12 V connector, one X1 liner and one absorber. Check the current product listing at the time of purchase because specifications and package contents can change.

Use the correct X1 liner

The X1 uses its own liner. Clesana specifically warns that third-party film can damage the sealing mechanism and invalidate the warranty. For reliability, safe sealing and support, use genuine Clesana X1 consumables.

Which one suits you?

The standard X1 is likely the better fit if:

  • You will mainly use 230 V or 12 V power.
  • You already have a compatible battery and separate charger.
  • You want the lower-cost route to the same core X1 toilet function.

The X1 ProCharge is likely the better fit if:

  • You rely on battery operation regularly.
  • You want to leave the battery fitted while charging.
  • You value simpler power management across different travel situations.
